Since its inception seven years ago, the Center has provided leadership scholars at Harvard University with an intellectual community that is simultaneously collegial and productive. This dynamic group—which includes affiliated faculty, fellows, and staff—extends the horizons of public leadership research and theory, while fortifying the foundations of an emerging canon.
We pursue our mission to advance leadership scholarship by sponsoring an array of research initiatives that broaden and deepen the conversation among faculty from different disciplines. CPL also supports a predoctoral program in leadership for young scholars from across the University, a visiting scholars seminar series, monthly faculty research and theory meetings, as well as a faculty grants program, postdoctoral fellowships. In 2005, in collaboration with U.S. News & World Report and the Yankelovich public opinion research firm, CPL launched the National Leadership Index, a first-of-its kind annual national study of Americans’ confidence in leaders throughout all major sectors of society.
Although this Web site can only hint at the range of scholarship in which CPL affiliated Harvard faculty members are currently engaged, we hope it whets your appetite to learn more about CPL’s ongoing research. And we invite you to come learn with us.
